Hi, I’m Mike Houser and welcome to Robot Game Squad. After many years of fits and starts this has all come together amazingly quickly. I remember reading Scott McCloud’s incredible Making Comics and trying things out, but I was frustrated that nothing came out the way I wanted. I worked on and off with a drawing tablet over the years but I had a real problem with my hand and the drawing being apart. And paper was right out…I need to undo – a lot.

And that’s the way it went until Strip Search. I’ve been a Penny Arcade fan forever but not much of a reality show person. But since PA was doing it I gave it a chance. Their search for new webcomics was a fantastic show about really interesting artists with widely different styles. I wondered if I could do it.

The final piece of the puzzle was also provided by Penny Arcade with Mike Krahulik’s review of the Surface Pro. It ran real Windows software, was relatively light, and you could draw on the screen. I fought myself over the purchase for a while, but I gave in. After spending $1000 on a computer I was highly motivated to draw! And this time I was a lot happier with the results. Manga Studio 5 is powerful and easy to use and I’m having a great time. My plan at the start is to update once a week. Maybe if I get drawing faster I can increase that.

Robot Game Squad owes a significant debt to Penny Arcade and is highly autobiographical. I’d like to thank my family for allowing me to take some of our funny moments and making comics out of them. I hope you enjoy the comic and come back for more.
